The lead provider of this niche, personalised service is Altius Coaching Group Director Kevin O’Loughlin. Originally trained as a meteorologist, Kevin has post-graduate qualifications in business management, and has served in senior executive roles in government, and as CEO of an innovative international research centre. He has experience as a company director, and in international programs and consultancies, and in dealing with the political process. He has introduced and managed successful change programs, and is widely recognised as a highly effective conference presenter and media communicator.
He is a qualified coach (Results Coaching Systems), has undertaken advanced training in executive coaching and the theoretical foundations of coaching. He is a member of the International Coaching Federation.
How Does It Work?
Each client has a support service that is tailored to their needs. The scoping takes account of relevant organisational needs and context.
After initial familiarisation and scoping, a program of coaching is designed around a few, challenging goals. Typically, this might be on two work specific goals and one personal goal. In subsequent sessions of one hour each, the coach supports the client in the development of strategies to achieve these goals, and the formulation of specific actions with timelines. The focus of the support can evolve as client needs change during the support program.
Sessions can take place off site or at the workplace, or by telephone if needed. The main requirement is that the client is able to give focused attention for the duration of each support session. At all times, the client has control over the process.
The frequency of sessions and duration of the program is flexible. A typical, successful formula to enable achievement of significant goals, and to fit with a client’s busy schedule is based around fortnightly sessions, spaced over a period of 6 months. This period also supports the development and maintenance of new habits the client may wish to adopt. The service includes support between sessions via email or shorter telephone conversations as required.
What Does It Cost?
The cost of this service depends on the individual program developed. In most cases, the cost will be equivalent to a few hours of consulting services per month, making it an extremely cost effective way of supporting key people in demanding roles.
